December 2008

I was on Today FM yesterday morning on the Ray Darcy show. Thanks to my brother. I just got a phone call out of the blue at 10:15pm (here), “Hi its Mairead here from the Ray Darcy show on Today FM, can you hold on for a second?”. So I did hold on and 30 seconds later (she lied) I was talking on air to Ray.

It turns out they were doing a special show calling up Irish people who live overseas for an ‘oul chat, and I was one of the lucky ones. Our chat ranged from ham to weather to how I missed going to the pub and getting ratarsed for the 12 days of Christmas. It was good to be able to give a bit of a shout out to the folks at home, just a pity I didn’t know I was going on and I’d have been a bit more prepared. (2 bottles of wine and a six pack prepared maybe!)

KT Tunstall and her new husband (also her drummer) are in New Zealand at the moment on their honeymoon and took some time out from their campervan to play at Bodega in Wellington, a gig venue owned by her former tour manager. While not the biggest KT fan myself, my partner is so we went along and I was glad we did. Here’s some video and pics I took for posterity.

Somebody else on youtube had recorded the same two songs as me so I got to work with Cyberlink Powerdirector and put together an edit from both angles.

KT Tunstall will also contribute to Neil Finn’s new 7 Worlds Collide album and gigs in January in Auckland.
